Public Notice: MERAFONG LOCAL MUNICIPALITY
PUBLIC NOTICE CALLING FOR INSPECTION OF THE VALUATION ROLL AND LODGING OF OBJECTIONS
Notice is hereby given in terms of Section 49(1)(a)(i) of the Local Government:
Municipal Property Rates Act, 2004 (Act No.6 of 2004), hereinafter referred to as the “Act”,
that the general valuation roll for the financial year 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2024 is open
for public inspection at the centre(s) listed below, from 6 July 2020 to 7 August 2020.
In addition the valuation roll is available at www.merafong.org.za.
An invitation is hereby made in terms of section 49(1)(a)(ii) of the Act that any owner of
property or other person who so desires should lodge an objection with the municipal manager
in respect of any matter reflected in, or omitted from, the general valuation roll within
the above mentioned period.
Attention is specifically drawn to the fact that in terms of section 50(2) of the Act an
objection must be in relation to a specific individual property and not against the valuation
roll as such. The required forms for the lodging of an objection to an individual property are
available at the centre(s) below and website www.merafong.org.za.
Valuation staff will be available at the centre(s) to assist.
The completed objection forms can be returned BY HAND to any of the centres listed below, or
submitted ONLINE on the website. Kindly bring along the Section 49 notice when submitting your
objection, as it will expedite the submission process. Note that online objections will only
be formally accepted after checking that all submitted documents comply with the requirements.
NO FORM OF EMAIL OR FACSIMILE (FAX) SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
NO LATE OBJECTIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
CLOSING DATE FOR OBJECTIONS IS ON 7 August 2020.
